Freckle Deckle (Alex Vallings/Hamish Hey) 1st
www.javelins.org (Peter Precey/Stu McLachlan) 2nd
Blunderbus (Bob Vernon/Brad Webb) 3rd
Night Nurse (Rob Fordyce/Grant Macduff) 4th
Psycho (Peter Holt/Steve Holt) 5th
Coup d'etat (Murray Bain/Neil Morris) 6th

Race summary

Race sailed in 10-14 knots, NE wind. Course: Triangle, W/L X 2

Zenith sailing this race with an amended crew of David Brown and Rosco
from Wanaka and Desperado now sailing with Alex Hinton and John Wilson.

Freckle Deckle led from the start followed by Night Nurse and
www.javelins.org who were separated by a few boat lengths. Coup d'etat
and Psycho rounded a small distance back.

Course became a one way track with Freckle Deckle sailing to port
layline with a single tack to the top mark. This maneuver was then
followed by the rest of the fleet.

Freckle Deckle won by 150 metres with www.javelins.org, Blunderbus and
Night Nurse crossing within 8 boat lengths in 2nd, 3rd and 4th -
www.javelins.org coming in 2nd despite putting a tear in their main.
The rest of the fleet finished closely behind.

X class, Xotic, also completed in the Kingham but had to retire at the
end of the second leg due to inferior velocity capabilities.

Results Race 5

Freckle Deckle (Alex Vallings/Hamish Hey) 1st
Blunderbus (Bob Vernon/Brad Webb) 2nd
Coup d'etat (Murray Bain/Neil Morris) 3rd
www.javelins.org (Peter Precey/Stu McLachlan) 4th
Psycho (Peter Holt/Steve Holt) 5th
Night Nurse (Rob Fordyce/Grant Macduff) 6th

Race summary

Notable for a serious bad start from Night Nurse in which they became
tangled with Coup d'etat giving the rest of the fleet a 200 metre head
start. Freckle Deckle again led to the top mark and held the lead for
the race. On the second leg Coup d'etat split from the preferred left
hand side and made big gains by going right to end the race in 3rd
position. Freckle Deckle again won with a gap back to Blunderbus and
the next four boats again finishing within one minute.

Race summary

Race sailed in 10-16 knots, NE wind. W/L X 3

Hi I'm Sheriff John Bonell and this is 'When Starts Go Bad - Part 2'...

Night Nurse in a glorious do-or-die pin end start f**ked up, giving the
fleet another 200 metre head start and the only penalty turns done in
the series so far.

For a change, Freckle Deckle wasn't first to the top mark, this
privilege was taken by Blunderbus. However this lead was short lived
when Freckle Deckle passed them on the next leg and went on to lead the
remainder of the race. Blunderbus and www.javelins.org had a really
hard fought race with Blunderbus just getting 2nd by half a boat
length. Psycho having found some good speed in the lighter conditions
came in 4th. Followed by Coup d'etat and Night Nurse. Very closely
following were Desperado and Zenith. Tight racing was noticeable again
with 2nd through 8th places finishing within one and a half minutes.

Boats were then packed up, smelly sailors washed and beer was consumed.
