Auckland 2002 - Okahu Bay

The BLACK HEART 78th Sanders Memorial Cup and BLACK HEART 2002 Javelin Nationals will be hosted by the Auckland Sailing Club in Okahu Bay (next to Kelly Tarltons) over the Easter period. You will find a Notice of Race and Entry forms for the event on this page along with a map of the Sanders Cup Provinces and elligibility rules.

  Those fortunate enough to win their selection trials for the Sanders Cup will need a set of Provincial Ribbons. Our very own Hamish Hey has located a cheap source of ribbons down in Hawera (yes Hawera) and will gladly arrange for ribbons for any boats entering the Sanders Cup for $30.

  Our aim for this event is to make it the biggest Javelin competition in the last 5 years, so start getting your boat together, and join us for some good racing and a good fun competition. Those that don’t have crews, don’t have skippers, don’t have boats, need crews or need boats, or are a spare crew, or skipper will need to talk to Peter Precey.  Peter is the competition matchmaker, his job is to get crews and boats together and on the water for the Nationals.

In Auckland, there are many options for accommodation; however, there are none within walking distance of the Auckland Sailing Club and Okaho Bay that I could find. Therefore, I’ve selected a few options that are relatively close and cover a wide range of budgets. In addition, there is the possibility of a number of billets being available. If you would like to be billeted, please let me know as soon as possible.
