First Try

The first regatta of the season: Murrays Bay Winter Champs.

Something in the title of that regatta must have scared all the Javelins away. Poor Bungholio had to sit there all by herself amongst those big burly 18ft skiffs!

Labour Weekend

Why was it you need a crew?

Bay Nissan Launched

Ben and Adam are showing the fleet that they are not only a great crew, but also great boatbuilders!

Bay Nissan dominated the majority of regattas this season, and very deservedly won the North Island Championships travellers series.

Red is Fast

Trailblazer Launched

You may have followed her building process up to August. After that, someone became too busy sailing to keep that page updated. David got Trailblazer ready just in time for the Sanders Cup. Below a sneak peak of what some do to get  a boat to go fast!

The Boatbreaker

Size does not matter, when it comes to destroying a boat in near calm conditions. Unfortunately, there is no photographic evidence!

The Boat Technician has reported a long list of repairs being done to Nice Once during the season - from broken sidestays to ripped frames.

However all we can say is that by the end of the season the Ex-Boatbreaker has calmed down enough now even to come close to winning silver - lucky that only the skipper can get the tea pot...

Size does matter at times, however, and there is photographic documentation of the event where the South Pacific Champion was beaten by two girls in light airs:

The NEW Boatbreaker

Breaking two Javelins on two days... that deserves special mention.

The ripped off decks on Hot Gossip, professional boatbuilder Adam put back together in time for John and Andrew to sail the rest of the Nationals, but the job on Flying Circus' mast was terminal...

Once more, with feeling!

Even though it has been voiced that there is no place for women in yacht racing, there is evidence that the presence of ladies (Plural!!) in the fleet has helped the men get in touch with their emotions:

oh, and did I mention that

Generously sharing their knowledge

(we will generously disregard when this was in relation to the start gun)

 Engaging in friendly off-the-water competition

Happy after a long day's sailing
