Message from the Event Organiser

Hi Everyone Time to think about the southpacs. You Aussies will be feeling confident after sneaking a win over the AB's but just remember if you think you will be able to cheat over here in Gisborne, (like George Smith did in Sydney) think again. Our race officer Tony Brown will be on to you .Even George Gregan couldn't talk a yellow card out of him.

We have secured a good sponsor for the contest. Bulmer Harvest, a local cider making firm, with connections to Captain Morgan Rum & Fosters (that will keep you Aussies Happy) don't worry there will be some Kiwi beer too!

The entry fee includes 2 Prizegiving meals. This will be "Phat" We have a couple of Guys in charge of entertainment, who have "degree"in Party. A band & a late Bar license would suggest anyone with travel plans the next morning, silly.(Bozo's can be arranged)

As I said earlier we will be running a"c"division. This will be run concurrently with the Southpacs.Being a glamour division, & held in high respect, some of you will not be eligible to contest.... Those of you in the Top 60% of the fleet after 5 or 6 races (to be decided by Race Officer)... Those skippers noted not buying their crew the first beer after racing each day, and more. A full list of rules will be advertised closer to the event.

Remember that Gisborne is a Holliday destination, I suggest booking accommodation NOW. It is no more than 10 mins from any Motel to the Yacht Club. Reads Quay & Salisbury rd are the closest & most popular.Waikanae Beach Holliday Park is a good Budget choice, be in Quick.

Cheers Shanksy

Racing from the Gisborne Yacht Club

Here is a selection of photos from the club. Sorry about the training hulls, but it should give you an idea of how bloody nice this place is to sail at.

Race Official

April9Jav 064 (Medium).jpg (61479 bytes) Tony Brown of Palmerston North will be our OOD. Tony has already been the OOD at the 2002 Nationals in Auckland, and the 2004 Nationals in the Bay of Islands. He knows all your dirty tricks, but is also relaxing with each regatta we sentance him to. Tony is an ex Navy Warrant Office, so you dont want to argue with him, the smart ones out there might try and influence his decisions with a well placed bottle of rum or two.

Tony will be extremely critical of any bad sailing by Javelin 374 "Flying Circus".
