The Kingham Trophy was sailed as a "Tour de Bay", starting off the Yachtclub with a beat up to the top of the bay with a top mark off the "Sea View" restaurant. The conditions were getting pretty wild up here, but the flat water helped everyone stay together and up the right way. As per usual, hitting the Kaiti Beach shore line, and nudging into the harbour entrance were the best ways to go.

Around the top mark the fleet hoisted Gennakers and screamed down the bay, well, most did, some went into a fast two sail reach in the actual direction of the mark which was further down the beach. This kept the fleet together with boats coming into the wing from all directions. Finally kites were hoisted for a very tight wild blast down to a gate off the yacht club, then a gybe and another blast down to a bottom mark at the entrance to the bay. All the way it was a fight between the eventual top 4 finishers.

Coming back up the bay the boats were very close, on the first tack www.javelins.org sailed into the beach until the almost hit the sand, this gave them a lead off around 100m at the next cross, which the held back to the top mark, and to the finish giving them the trophy. Fighting out for 2nd to 4th the bunch went round the last mark together, and then finished within 5 seconds, with Bungholio coming in from a hot left hand gybe to pip Fat Boys on the line behind Freckle Deckle.
