"Fat
Boys" from WA win Javelin Nationals!
Brian Hennessy & Steve Watts sailing "Fat Boys
Swim" from Westren Australia won a hard fought series from a
strong Victorian contingent. Hennessy/Watts were too good in the end taking
the series by 2 points from locals Warren Smith & Brett Williams sailing
"Unzipped". Last years winner Mitch Galland sailing "SpunOut"
with crew Tim Ellem was in 3rd place.
The course orientation for these championships was changed from the conventional
7 races (1 drop), triangle/return format to 15 races (4 drops) windward/leeward
format which resulted in some very close racing and the closest result
in many years. The final result was not decided until the last day of
racing with any of the first 3 boats in a position to win
Congratulations also to Steve Lowe sailing "For Better or Worse"
who took out the veterans title, Fran Craig sailing "Unplugged"
who took out the female title and Jeff/Fran Craig sailing "Unplugged"
who were the overall handicap winners..
