For general information on Melbourne, Victoria or the Mornington Peninsula the best site to use is www.visitvictoria.com.au.  Chelsea is 35km south of Melbourne on the way to the very popular Mornington Peninsula.

The Chelsea YC and many of the accommodation options are in very close walking distance to the Frankston line train, which will take you into Melbourne city in approx 40 minutes. Chelsea YC is a 5 minute walk from Chelsea rail station. The airport is on the other side of the city, and will take one hour or more to drive. You can shuttle to the city and then train out, or the best option is the “Airport Bus” which runs right past the Chelsea area regularly. Check out on www.fapas.com.au

Accommodation
The following are a list of local options for accommodation during the South Pacifics to be held at Chelsea YC over the Christmas period of 2006/07. Although this area is not technically a ‘holiday’ area, any spot near the beach at this time of the year will be booked up early.

The information used is from websites and advice received in November 2005. Prices and/or availability may differ by the time of booking, and we strongly advise you to check all details before committing. The drive/walk times are a real person carrying a child/sailing bag in 35 degree heat after a long day, not real estate agent waffle. All prices are a nightly rate, and this drops if you book on weekly terms.

5 minute walk to major shopping complex and heaps of restaurants, 10 minute walk to Frankston station followed by 10 minute train to Chelsea, 10 minute drive to Chelsea YC.

All new apartments, very snazzy décor.  2 minutes walk to the beach, across the road from Bonbeach station only one stop from Chelsea, 15-20 minute walk up beach to yacht club, located in small shopping strip with café, pizza, milk bar, bottle shop (what else could you need!), 3 minute drive to Chelsea YC.
One, two bedroom and interconnecting apartment options from 180pn.
NOTE: This complex is currently up for auction, and not sure on its future if sold! Is a great option, but we have been unable to get a clear idea of what is happening here. Check on the status before booking.  03 9772 6516

Owned by the same people of above apartments but has been established for a long period. Can be found on the no.2 website also, and contact number the same. Three accom options on one block which backs onto the beach very close to the Chelea YC. 30s econd walk to the beach, 5-10minute walk along beach to Chelsea YC, 5 minute drive to Chelsea shops and station.

Very snazzy apartments on the canals in Patterson Lakes. This is about 2 km inland from Carrum on the river, about 7 minute drive to the Chelsea YC. Great location between the pub and shopping centre with supermarket/bank/cafes/takeaway etc. Has pool and spa on complex.

Closest of caravan parks, 2 km inland in residential area. 7 minute drive to the Chelsea YC, 5 minute drive to the beach, 5 minute drive to shops/takeaway. Has cabins and powered sites. Lots of trees and nice ambience for a caravan park. Has some ‘all in’ cabins that should suit the sheep!

BLUEGUM PARK-SOUTHSIDE

Website can be found with much hunting on the “RACV” site. A good 10 minute drive from club, out near the freeway. There is a McDonalds, Subway, and huge liquor warehouse nearby (again what else would you need!), but otherwise is quite a drive to anywhere.

Cost $320/day subject to numbers of people staying.

Cost includes a cleaner who will come through the house 2 times/week during your stay to clean bathrooms and kitchen, & floors. All linen can be washed by tenants using washing machine in the house.
